The Birth of Baby Girl Wright

A quick glimpse of March 12, 2010 and the birth of Genevieve Marie Wright.

Here we go again - my second C-section. (I have a photo almost identical to this from last time.)

It's a girl! 7lbs 8oz, 20in at 7:43am. Beautiful and breech, just like her sister.

Almost clean.

She was Daddy's little girl first.

Meeting my little girl. I actually got to see her since I was allowed to wear my contact lenses.

Resting after surgery. Someone made little green hats for the babies born in March.

Genevieve is ready to go home.

What Happened to Cereal?

I don't often write about anything that isn't about my family, but...

I love cereal. I don't need any milk, just give me the cereal. Chex, Kix, Crispix, anything that ends in -x, apparently. And other than some Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch, I've never been a huge fan of super-sugary cereals. I would much prefer a bowl of Raisin Nut Bran, Basic 4, granola, or plain old Cheerios.

Because we get 99% of our cereal through the WIC program, our purchasing choices are somewhat limited to the healthiest of all cereals. (Grape Nuts, as it turns out, are pretty good if you mix them with yogurt instead of milk and let them soften up for a bit.) But just because I have to select my cereal from a government-approved list, it doesn't mean I haven't noticed what is happening to the other boxes on the shelf.

Every time I go to the store, there is some new horror waiting on the cereal aisle...

Sprinkle Cookie Crisp. In case you hate chocolate chip cookies but still want a cookie-flavored cereal for breakfast.

Vanilla Cocoa Puffs. Really? I mean, really?

Cupcake Pebbles. Was the entire Flintstone family diabetic?

Chocolate Cheerios. Shame on you, General Mills. Shame on you.

Have you seen any cereal atrocities? Let me know!
